This image is meant to depict a young, hopeful, bright eyed Rose Fortune alongside her parents (with only her father's lower body visible) as they are arriving in Annapolis Valley from the United States. There are no existing photos of Rose because there weren't cameras, so this is a reimagining of what it may have looked like for her to get up early in the morning to start the day with her family to meet the sunrise.

Inspired by the story of Rose Fortune, this image is from an educational video series based on people featured in the children's book 'Amazing Black Atlantic Canadians' written by author Lindsay Ruck.
